Thinkbox Software Inc (Thinkbox) is committed to keeping information collected from end users of our Deadline Render Farm Management (Deadline) software secure, confidential, and private. Our privacy policy has been designed and created to inform those using Deadline of Thinkbox’s commitment to meet and adhere to applicable privacy standards.

This Privacy Policy applies to Thinkbox’s Deadline software and the Customer Portal used to access the Deadline software, and it describes how Thinkbox collects, uses, and discloses personal information in connection with use of the Customer Portal and Deadline software. By using the Deadline software you consent to the following data practices described in this Privacy Policy.

Please note that this Privacy Policy only covers Thinkbox’s data practices in connection with your use of and access to the Customer Portal and Deadline software. Your use of and access to the Thinkbox Web site, as well as your use of customer support provided by Thinkbox (whether relating to the Customer Portal and Deadline software, or other Thinkbox products or services)  is governed by the privacy policy found at

Information You Provide: When you create an account in the Customer Portal, Thinkbox collects information you provide such as your name, email address, company name, and billing address.

Automatically Collected Information: Thinkbox may, depending on your mode of licensing, automatically collect information about your usage of the Deadline software. This automatically collected information includes information about the rendering applications being used, such as application name and version, and information about the rendering hardware, such as IP address and CPU information.

Licensing for the Deadline software is available in two modes. The first mode is a Floating License system that is installed and managed by the end user within their infrastructure, and Thinkbox provides temporary or permanent licenses to be used by this system. The Deadline software communicates directly with this internal system, and does not collect or send any automatically collected information back to Thinkbox.

The second mode is a Usage Based license system that is hosted in the Cloud. License entitlements are created within the end user’s online Customer Portal, and the Deadline software communicates with the Customer Portal to acquire licenses. In this mode, the Deadline software reports the automatically collected information described above back to Thinkbox. The end user can view the IP address and license consumption in the Customer Portal.

Thinkbox uses the information you provide to contact you regarding your usage, to notify you of changes to the services, and to inform you of products or offers that may be of interest to you.

Information automatically collected by the Usage Based license system is used by Thinkbox to analyze the overall usage of the Deadline software, as well as the rendering applications and rendering hardware used with it. Information about the rendering applications being used will help Thinkbox recognize which applications are used regularly by end users, allowing Thinkbox to focus development efforts appropriately. Information about the rendering hardware being used will help Thinkbox recognize hardware trends with respect to the rendering applications being used. For end users with a monthly billing plan, this usage information is also used to generate monthly invoices based on the license usage for the previous month.

Thinkbox may use de-identified data (e.g., aggregated information) for any legitimate business purpose.

Thinkbox may share your information with service providers acting on its behalf, such as companies or individuals that host or operate the Customer Portal, analyze data, provide customer service, or manage payments. When Thinkbox provides information to third parties, it takes reasonable steps to require these third parties to protect your information and use it only as needed.

Thinkbox may disclose information to law enforcement, regulatory authorities, or other third parties as required or permitted by law, such as to comply with a subpoena or similar legal process, or to comply with government reporting obligations.

Thinkbox may disclose information in accordance with the law when it believes in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect its rights; to protect your safety or the safety of others; or to detect, prevent, or respond to fraud, intellectual property infringement, violations of the Conditions of Use, violations of law, or other misuse of the Customer Portal.

Thinkbox may transfer your personal information as part of a sale or transfer of all or a relevant portion of its business or assets. In such event, Thinkbox will use commercially reasonable efforts to help ensure that your personal information will be subject to appropriate privacy protections, in accordance with applicable privacy law.

Thinkbox does not sell, rent, or lease any of your personal information or license usage information to third parties except where allowed or required by law or with your consent.

You can review and modify your personal information in the Customer Portal. When your personal information changes, please log in to the Customer Portal to review, correct, amend, and/or delete your information. Some of your information may require contacting customer support to update; instructions as to how to do so are provided in the Customer Portal. You can also view your license usage information in the Customer Portal.
